6 Men's Soccer Named to NJCAA All-Academic Teams

Daytona State College Men’s Soccer Team had six student-athletes named to the NJCAA All-Academic Team for the 2022-23 season.

The NJCAA recognizes the student-athletes that achieve an overall GPA of 3.60 or higher for the academic year. The teams are broken up into three teams:

  • NJCAA All-Academic First Team: 4.00 GPA
  • NJCAA All-Academic Second Team: 3.80-3.99 GPA
  • NJCAA All- Academic Third Team: 3.60-3.79 GPA

Two Falcons landed on the NJCAA All-Academic Second Team, Yuta Tokuhisa and Shota Tokuhisa. Both were first year participants who joined the Falcons from Kanagawa, Japan.

The remaining four Men’s Soccer players to be recognized by the NJCAA were sophomores Ryan Bierwagen (DeLand, FL) Poom Dhararag (Bangkok, Thailand), Dalton Fleshood (Orlando, FL), and freshmen Mick Stauffer (Tampa, FL) on the All-Academic Third Team.

When asked about these young men, Coach Joe Avallone said, "these young men exemplify what we at Daytona State think a student athlete should be: athletes who work as hard in the classroom as they do on the field of play, we are proud of each and everyone of them."
