Men's Soccer Scores 4 On Homecoming

Daytona State Falcons men's soccer team played against Fort Lauderdale University on homecoming night last Friday. Improving their record to 8-2 on the year and recording their fifth clean sheet of the season, men's soccer got back to winning ways after a 13-day layoff.

The contest was far from an easy task as the Falcons went into halftime tied 0-0. Outshooting their opponents 9-3 in the first half, the Eagles goalkeeper came up big in the first half with two saves that could have seen the Falcons take the lead early in the first half.

Sophomore defender, Poom Dhararag, opened the scoring for the Falcons in the 60th minute of the contest. Eagles goalkeeper came out for a cross that he was not able to get a hold of, and Poom took advantage of the loose ball with a left-footed volleyed into the back of the net. Five minutes later, the Falcons doubled the score after Carlos Zambrano (two assists on the night) lifted the ball into the box to find an open Christian Cordeiro for his 6th goal of the season. Continuing to push, Zambrano won the ball high up the field and set up Freshman, Takuto Nishide, to make it 3-0. The last goal came in the 87th minute of the match after a Falcons corner kick was cleared out and freshmen Dew Yingcherdsuk  hit a first-time strike from 25-yards.

The No. 9 ranked Daytona State Falcon's next match will be on Tuesday, October 11th, in Thomasville, Georgia versus Thomas University JV at 2 pm.
