Falcons Start Pre-Season Ranked 10th in NJCAA

The Dayton State men’s soccer program started the year ranked 10th in the NJCAA pre-season poll.

The Falcons return 7 starters from last season and several players who contributed to the team’s success.

This will mark the fourth time the falcons start the pre-season ranked in the NJCAA.  In 2017 the Falcons started ranked 5th, in 2018 the Falcons began the year ranked 8th, and in 2019 the Falcons began the year ranked 17th.

Head Coach Bart Sasnett begins his 6th season at the helm of the Daytona State program with a 63-18-5 record and begins his 20th season as an NJCAA coach.  Coach Bart said about the ranking, “This is great for our program and a testament of how well our program is regarded. It’s not where you start but where you end that’s important for us”.  The Falcons finished the 2020 spring season ranked 3rd and fell short of their goal of a National Championship.

The Falcons have a loaded schedule with schools like Division I ranked LSUE (6th), Monroe (13th), and also Division II powerhouses Georgia Military College (18th), Louisburg (11th) and Patrick Henry (19th). Daytona State welcomes back coastal rival Eastern Florida State College, in a best of 3, late October showdown between the two perennial powers.  The two Florida programs have been among the best NJCAA team’s year in and year out.

All home games are played at Daytona State College at 1200 W International Speedway Blvd. Daytona Beach, FL 32114
