DSC Men's Soccer Player Signs MLS Contract

For the first time in program history, a Daytona State Men’s Soccer player has signed a Major League Soccer Contract.

Player Curtez Kellman now joins Sporting Kansas City, forming a part of the SKC 2 Squad for the upcoming season. “It has always been a dream for me to play professional at the highest level, and now gaining the opportunity to be able to play professional has been a dream come true. Now this is the opportunity for me to go and compete at a high level and be consistent so that I can stay at the highest level and progress in my career," Kellman.

Having signed his contract with SKC, Kellman joins the ranks of three other former Falcons that have gone on to play under professional contracts.  “Having watched Curtez these past few seasons day in and day out you see not only the talent but the desire to play at the professional level, we are proud to have been a part of his journey to the next level,” Coach Joe Avallone.

Kellman joined The Falcons Program in Spring 2021 and immediately made an impact with his leadership and passion for the sport, earning himself the captain’s armband early on in his career at Daytona.  “We’re so excited for Curtez!  He was an amazing player and leader at Daytona State.  I had no doubt in my mind he will be a great professional player,” Coach Sasnett stated.

Kellman’s talent as a Falcon of course did not go unrecognized, becoming the first player in program history to have been awarded with back-to-back All-Americans (20-21,21).

During his time with The Falcons, Kellman was responsible for 2 goals and 3 assists in two seasons, his focus and drive to succeed on the field continued to be influential in the success of the team. Kellman’s record (21-4-2) with the Falcon’s lead to fantastic results with Daytona State becoming back-to-back Southeast District Champions and making consecutive NJCAA National Tournament appearances.

Coach Sasnett finished by saying, “It has been an honor to work with such a talented, and professional young man. I look forward to watching Curtez Transition to the professional level and transition myself from a coach to a fan. I wish Curtez luck in his first season and I am looking forward to watch his progress.”
