The Daytona State College men's soccer team improved their record to 5-0 this past weekend by winning both of their matches against Andrew College and University of the Bahamas.

"It was a very successful weekend for us," said head coach Bart Sasnett. "Not only were we able to win both games, but we were able to get every single player onto the field for both games."

Along with getting every player into the games, the Falcons scored 12 goals between the two matches, putting them at 31 goals in just five games.

"We've got a lot of players that can score for us from all different positions," said Sasnett.

This weekend showed just that. On Saturday's match against Andrew College, three different Falcons got on the board. The first two goals came from freshman Santiago Fonseca in the 1st half. One being a header off a cross from teammate Juan Esteban Carmona and the other being a free kick from outside of the 18-yard box. The next two goals came from sophomore transfer Royce Luedde and returning sophomore captain Sergio Molina. The Falcons defeated the Andrew College Fighting Tigers 4-1.

Sundays match was a quick turnaround for the Falcons but they did not back down from the challenge. Facing the University of the Bahamas, the Falcons were able to put eight goals in the back of the net.

"Sunday was a good day for us," said Sasnett. "The guys were positive and ready to play. It's always good being able to get all of your players into the match because they work so hard for minutes during practice sessions."

The Falcons got on the board early with a headed goal from freshman Angel Limardo. Shortly after that, Sergio Molina netted a header into the back of the net after the Mingoes goalkeeper had made a fantastic save. Next on the board for the Falcons was sophomore Shandel Senior, who beat multiple defenders to place the ball nicely into the back of the goal. Juan Esteban Carmona was next to score with an assist from sophomore Fabian Grant. Minutes after Grant's assist, he got a goal of his own with an assist from Senior. Angel Limardo got his second goal of the day with six minutes remaining with an assist from Santiago Fonseca. There was one more goal in the 1st half and it was from Shandel Senior who scored with only 2 minutes remaining in the half. That would be Senior's second goal of the day with the assist once again came from Fonseca.

"I am proud of how our guys played in the first half," said coach Sasnett. "They worked hard for every goal they got."

The Falcons unloaded their bench in the second half. A completely new lineup was buzzing around the field.

"It's always a great thing to have depth off the bench," said Sasnett. "We are fortunate to have so many talented players that we are able to rotate in."

There was one last goal from the Falcons and it came from freshman D'angelo Mullings who took a ripping shot from outside of the 18-yard box right into the back of the net. It was Mullings third goal of the season.

Currently ranked 11th in the NJCAA poll, the Falcons will open up Region 8 play Tuesday night against Broward College. As always, we welcome you to come out and support your Falcons!
