O'Sullivan's Late Goal Lifts Falcons Over Seahawks

O'Sullivan's Late Goal Lifts Falcons Over Seahawks

Wednesday, October 12th.

The #16 Flacons defeated the #10 Seahawks on Wednesday night at the Broward Soccer Complex. It was a grueling match between the two teams but the Falcons came out on top in the end.

The Seahawks got on the board early in the 10th minute of play and were up 1-0 the majority of the half. Late into the first half, sophomore Jonas Bukh rocketed a 30-yard shot past the Seahawks keeper to tie the game 1-1 and send them into the second half with some momentum.

The Seahawks came into the second half and scored within the first 10 minutes once again but the Falcons answered right back with a header from freshman Mohamed Hussein off of a cross from freshman Dylan Burke.

Shortly after the Flacons tied up the match, the Seahawks added in another goal from a diving header inside of the box. Down for the 3rd time in the match, Jonas Bukh netted another goal in the 84th minute and tied it up once again for the Falcons.

With the score tied at 3-3 and two minutes remaining in the match, freshman Joe O'Sullivan stepped up big time for the Falcons and beamed a shot into the back of the net giving the Falcons the win over the Seahawks 4-3. "This is a once in a lifetime opportunity, take advantage of it," were the words that head coach Bart Sasnett said to O'Sullivan before putting him into the match in the 2nd half. "He heard the words and took advantage of the situation."

"I knew we were going to come out a little slow due to the fact that we had 6 days off from Hurricane Matthew," says Sasnett. "We got our stuff together at halftime and came out in the 2nd half on a mission to win the game."

The Falcons will face Region 8 opponent ASA Miami College on October 15th at 4:00 at ERAU.
