Daytona State is Headed to Hutch!

The Daytona State Men's Basketball team is headed back to Hutchinson, Kansas for the second time in as many years to compete in the NJCAA Division I National Tournament. Heading into the tournament, the Falcons are 27-5, 2 of the losses coming from late season forfeits stemming from a non-collegial incident.

Not including the forfeits, the team was on a 25-0 run before losing in the semi-final of the FCSAA/Region 8 tournament to Gulf Coast State College 78-73. The team was ranked in the top 25 in the NJCAA since Week 4, December 2, 2024, working their way up to #2 in the nation. Going into the tournament, the Falcons are ranked #10.

The Falcons were selected as an At-Large bid into the tournament on Sunday March 16th during the NJCAA Selection Show. They will start the tournament seeded at #8 and will have a bye before playing the winner of #9 Barton Community College and #24 Brunswick Community College on Tuesday, March 25th at 1:00pm Eastern/12:00pm Central.

The Falcons are led by Citrus Conference and FCSAA Player of the Year, Isaiah Dorceus, who averages 14.3 points per game, 45.8% from the field, and 40% from three. Other key players are Tyrese Lacey who averages 7.4 assists per game and is #2 in the country in assists, Matt Bewley who is #2 in the country in field goal percentage at 72.5%, and Jaylin Payne who is #5 in the country at 70.5% in field goal percentage.
