The Daytona State College men's basketball team, ranked #2 in the NJCAA, defeated #16 Eastern Florida State College 74-69 in a highly-contested game between the top 2 teams in the Citrus Conference. Daytona improves to 24-2 overall and 12-0 in conference play. Eastern Florida drops to 22-4 and 11-2 in conference play.

Eastern Florida led by 10 points at the half and as many as 16, 55-39, with 12:30 left in the game. The Daytona defense led the come from behind effort forcing 25 EFSC turnovers, 14 in the second half. Daytona had 17 steals in the game. Daytona went on a 35 to 14 run in the final 12 minutes.

Daytona tied the game at 61-61 with five minutes to play on a Tyrese Lacey alley-oop pass to Matt Bewley for a dunk. It would remain a back and forth contest the remainder of the game with Daytona adding a couple baskets to close out the scoring at 74-69.

Eddie Placer led the scoring for Daytona with 20 points with 6-10 3 point field goals made. Placer also had 3 rebounds and 3 assists. Tyrese Lacey finished with 17 points, 4 assists, 4 steals and 3 rebounds. Isaiah Dorceus had 9 points, 9 rebounds, 5 steals and 3 assists. Huascar Cuevas had 10 points, 3 assists, 3 steals and 2 rebounds. Matt Bewley 8 points and 5 rebounds.
