Falcons Deliver Excellent Servant Leadership

July 27th, 2016
Friday, July 22nd the Daytona State Men's Basketball team went to work.  Alongside the staff at Chiles Academy the Falcons epitomized what it means to be a servant leader.  Much of the morning was spent volunteering for Chiles.  They had an opportunity to spend quality time with the children of Daytona.
The impact that these athletes had on the youth of Chiles Academy was remarkable and they were able to not only spend time with the kids, but rather invest time molding and developing lasting relationships with each of the students.

In addition to working with the youth, the Falcons were also blessed with the opportunity to give back to the Chiles community in other ways.  Chiles Academy enlisted these strong athletes to help with yard work, break down shelves, and just do overall physical maintenance.
Ian Gibson, Assistant Men's Basketball Coach spoke of the event, "It is impressive to see the young men in our program demonstrate such impressive character.  They were extremely committed to the cause on the response we received from the children and staff was impactful."
This was one of those experiences that not only impacted the men, women, and children of Chiles, but also touched the lives of the Falcon Men's Basketball players.  Daytona State College looks forward to a return visit to Chiles Academy in the future.
