Four Falcons Selected to the FCSAA Fall JUCO Classic

The 2021 FCSAA Fall JUCO Classic will be taking place at Publix Field at Joker Marchant Stadium on October 9th. The Daytona State Baseball program had four players nominated to play in the JUCO Classic on Sunday at 12:30pm. Batting Practice on the field will start at 10:30am.

Austin Brinling, a red-shirt sophomore outfielder played in 29 games last year for the Falcons and finished the season with a .305 batting average. Brinling, a Bradenton, FL native, hit eight doubles and two home runs in 95 at-bats in the sping of 2021. Brinling posted a .975 fielding percentage over 81 total chances while playing center field for the Falcons. 

 

Fletcher Cline, a sophomore infielder played in 30 games last year finishing with a .324 batting average at the plate with six doubles, one triple, and one homerun over 102 at-bats. The former Creekside High School product spent time at all of the infield positions and had a .863 fielding percentage making 10 errors on 73 chances. 

 

Byrce Holmes, a sophomore left handed pitcher had a team high 20 appearances in the spring of 2021 and finished with a 3.83 earned run average. Holmes, a Spring Hill, FL native, had a 4-1 record on the mound with three saves and 49 strikeouts in 42 innings pitched. Holmes is scheduled to pitch the 9th inning of the All-Star game. 

 

Danny Rodriguez, a red-shirt sophomore right handed pitcher had a team high 61 strikeouts in 33.1 innings over 17 appearances in the spring of 2021. Rodriguez, the Venice High School product, boasted a 16.47 K/9 which was tops in the state of Florida while holding a 3.24 earned run average. Rodriguez is scheduled to pitch the 8th inning of the All-Star Game.
