Daytona State Women’s Soccer Season Preview

Fall of 2016 will mark the inaugural season for The Daytona State Women’s Soccer program.   The Falcons will begin the season in August 2016 with a roster that features 25 players intent on setting the foundation for the program.

“I was very intentional in how I recruited players for our inaugural roster.   It was imperative that I not only attract highly competitive athletes, but more importantly that I attracted people of high character and integrity” stated Head Coach, Brittany Jones.  “The culture of our program will be laid by this first class and it was important for me to find those players that fit our vision of developing the student, athlete and person.”

The Falcons will compete in Region 8, which over the last few years has consistently been one of the most competitive regions across the NJCAA.  Region 8 is composed of 4 additional teams:  Eastern Florida State College, Polk State College, Broward College, and ASA Miami.  In conference play Daytona State will face each opponent in home and away contests.  Their most testing opponent will be Eastern Florida State College who has been to the NJCAA National Championship Game three of the last four years.

“I am very happy with the group of young women we have joining us this fall.  I believe they all have the talent and integrity to enhance the quality of our athletic program at Daytona State College.  As a coach this will be an exciting group to work with as there is such a diverse set of personalities and backstories, but a unifying desire to compete, improve and achieve as a team.  The excitement I feel from the players is infectious and will certainly serve us well this fall.”

The Falcons will be a young team this fall, but they will also feature players that have had the chance to compete collegiately or internationally at a very high level.  They will begin preseason on August 1st and play their first regular season game on September 3rd, as they travel to Cuthbert, Georgia to play Georgia Military College.
