LADY FALCON WOMEN'S GOLF TO START SPRING SEASON

The Daytona State College Lady Falcon Golf Team had a very successful fall season and are excited to start the much anticipated spring season beginning February 17th at the Amelia Island Collegiate hosted by Jacksonville University in Fernandina Beach, FL where 15 teams are scheduled to compete.

The Lady Falcons will have the most competitive schedule in the history of the program and will compete against some of the very best NCAA programs in the country this spring. The tournaments that they will compete in will definitely test their skills, but their competitive drive should enable them to keep pace with the competition. "I'm excited for my players to have such a great schedule this spring and having the opportunity to play against some of the top teams in the country is so motivating and exciting for us" said Coach Laura Brown.

The Lady Falcons goal this semester is to have continued success on the golf course as well as in the classroom. Last semester these young ladies posted an overall team GPA of 3.86 which is the best effort in the 16 year history of the program. On the course these players were equally impressive, as they posted a 299 team scoring which was also the best scoring average in the history of the program.

The Lady Falcons were led by freshman standout Tiffany Chan in the fall. Chan, who is from Hong Kong, had 2 individual wins and placed in the top-5 in four out the five events in the fall. Chan posted an impressive even par 72 scoring average in the fall. Chan, who has already verbally committed to attend University of Southern California (2013 NCAA National Champions) in the fall of 2015 has worked very hard in the off season and is primed to lead her team this spring.

Sophomore So Young Hwang was also a picture of consistency in the fall, as she had four top-5 finishes, including a 2nd place finish at the 36th Annual Pat Bradley Championship where she had her season best finish of 2nd place and posted rounds of 71-69-71. Hwang was a top contributor in the fall and ended up with a 74 scoring average.

Coach Laura Brown looks for Chan and Hwang to continue to lead the squad this spring, but also predicts great play from the rest of her players as well. "It's been over three months since our last competition and these players are eager to get back to playing", states Coach Laura Brown. "We are all excited for this spring, as our schedule is top notch and we feel like the strong competition will ultimately prepare us for defending our National Championship Title in May. All of my players are extremely talented and I think their hard work and dedication will pay off this spring."
