Lady Falcons Score Mid-Florida Conference Nods

The Lady Falcons finished the 2019 volleyball season by garnering recognition for First and Second All-Conference selections.

The Lady Falcons had two representatives on both the First and Second Teams for the Mid-Florida Conference.   Represented on the 2nd Team All-Conference were sophomores, Nicole Rodriguez and Alexis Thompson.

Rodriguez has been the starting libero for the Lady Falcons for the past two seasons.  In her two seasons with the Falcons, Rodriguez has amassed 959 total digs, an average of 4.94 digs per set.  Rodriguez has played in 194 sets and 54 matches as the Falcon's libero.

Thompson, a middle blocker for Daytona State College, was the Falcon's second selection for 2nd Team All-Conference.  Thompson, like Rodriguez, has been a two-year starter for the Falcons.  Thompson has played in 168 sets, and 49 matches while at Daytona State College.  She has accumulated 245 kills in her career, averaging 1.46 kills per set.  She has also been a defensive force, blocking 139 balls in two seasons.  Thompson is headed to Stetson University in 2020 to play for the Hatters.

First team All-Conference was represented by two Lady Falcon Volleyball players that played significant roles both offensively and defensively for Daytona State.  Sophomores, Carla Hernandez and Bruna Avila, were impact players for Daytona State College and were named to the Mid-Florida Conference's First Team.

Hernandez is an outside attacker at Daytona State.  Hernandez has played in 192 sets and 54 matches in a Daytona State College jersey.  During her two seasons with the Falcons she has landed 582 attacks for kills hitting just over .200.  In addition to her offensive contributions, Hernandez has recorded 460 digs and 53 blocks.  While donning a Daytona State volleyball jersey she has amassed an impressive 655 points for the Falcons.  Hernandez will be transferring to Saint Francis University in New York to compete for the Terriers in fall 2020.

The final All-Conference nod goes to sophomore setter, Bruna Avila.  Avila shared court time during the 2018 season with another Falcon setter, before owning the position as a sophomore.  Avila recorded 489 assists as a freshman, doubling that number as a sophomore with 911 assists.  Her accumulated total of assists as a Lady Falcons is an impressive 1,400.  Avila was also an offensive setter, scoring 141 kills in two seasons, hitting an impressive .347 on her career.  Avila has added 79 blocks and 293 digs to her career stats, recording just over 200 points during her tenure as a Lady Falcon.  Avila will be playing at USC Upstate in fall 2020.

These sophomores have had a major impact on the Falcon Volleyball program.
