DSC Softball Announces 2020 Signing Class

The 2020 spring softball season may have ended early, but the Falcons still have reason to celebrate.  Second year head coach Keli Harrell announced the signing of a promising group of student-athletes who will arrive in August 2020.  "We are so excited to announce the signing of such a talented and versatile class.  I truly believe this group is going to exceed our expectations on the field and in the classroom."  The group of twelve includes three pitchers, one catcher, and a mix of infielders and outfielders who are expected to pack an offensive punch.

Hannah Rizzuto:  5'8" | Infielder from Spring Hill, FL | Springstead High School

Hannah is a true utility player who is most comfortable on the dirt.  She can play corners or middle infield, and she is the type of teammate who will play wherever she is needed.  I expect Hannah to hit for average and occasional power.  As one of three incoming freshmen from the same club team, I am looking forward to the chemistry Hannah and her NLS teammates will bring to our infield.

Alyssa Kelly:  5'5" | Pitcher from Brooksville, FL | Nature Coast Technical High School

A.K. is expected to be our hardest thrower, and I think she has a lot more in her tank.  I'm looking forward to helping her get stronger and tighten up her spins.  One of the main things I like about A.K. is that she understands the importance of living on the corners and keeping hitters off balance.  I expect her to attack hitters and make an immediate impact.

Anna Margetis:  5'8" | 1st Baseman/Outfielder from Wesley Chapel, FL | Cypress Creek High School

Anna is someone who stands out because she swings a big bat and she is always smiling.  I expect Anna to be a middle-of-the-lineup type of hitter who drives the gaps, plays with enthusiasm, and lifts up those around her.  She could see time at first base or in the outfield.

Emma Hoffman:  5'4" Utility player from Palm City, FL | Westminster Academy

Emma is going to surprise a lot of people.  I think she flew under the radar and is just starting to reach her potential.  She has a powerful swing and the ability to play just about any position on the field.  I expect her to push everyone around her and compete for a starting spot in the lineup.

Kailah McKean:  5'8" | Pitcher from Middleburg, FL | Clay High School

Kailah is a right-handed pitcher and first baseman who throws hard and spins the ball well.  One of the many things I like about Kailah is that she works hard in the weight room.  As a member of Clay high school's weightlifting team, she placed first in districts and regionals, and fourth in the state.  I expect her to set the tone for us in the weight room next fall and push those around her.  I look forward to the competitive edge Kailah will bring to us in the circle, as well as the power she is going to bring at the plate.

Daisy McQuain:  6'0" | Infielder from Lutz, FL | Sunlake High School

We are so excited to add Daisy to the mix.  She is competitive, athletic, and versatile.  As a true utility player, I expect Daisy will earn a spot somewhere on the dirt and add depth to our infield.  Daisy is a multi-sport athlete, and a 1st team all-conference basketball player for her high school.   We can't wait to see the impact she is going to have as a Falcon.

Kansas Crean:  5'4" | Infielder from Tarpon Springs, FL | East Lake High School

Kansas is another talented infielder who can play pretty much anywhere on the dirt, but who will most likely see time at 2nd base.  I knew I wanted her to be a Falcon the first time I saw her swing the bat.  She consistently drives gaps and hits for power.  I anticipate her being a 3 or 4- hole hitter for us and frustrating a lot of pitchers.

Sarah Polak:  5'6" | Pitcher/3rd Baseman from Palm Beach Gardens, FL | Suncoast High School

Sarah is another quality pitcher we are adding to our staff, with a solid foundation and high ceiling.  Her ability to spin the ball will compliment the other pitchers on our staff and be exciting to watch.  She is a powerful athlete, and our goal is to help her channel more of her power into pitching.  Sarah also has a great glove at third and can swing the bat, which helped her earn 1st team All-Conference and All-County honors the past several years of high school.  We look forward to seeing her contribute on both sides of the ball.

Savannah Cardenales:  5'2" | Outfielder from Patchogue, NY | Patchogue-Medford High School

Savannah plays club ball for Team Long Island, and she has played with and against some of the best competition in the country.  She covers a lot of ground in the outfield and runs through fences, which is one of the reasons she was All-League and All-Division in Suffolk County, New York.  Savannah is exactly the type of gritty player I want to add to our team.  She can hit anywhere in the lineup and I expect her to anchor our outfield next year.

Mia Ayres:  5'10" | Outfielder from Hope Mills, NC | South View High School

We are expecting big things out of Mia.  She is one of the most powerful hitters I have ever seen, and we are eager to help her hone her skills and reach the next level of her game.  Mia is primarily an outfielder, but she could also see time at 3rd base.

Kassidy Leverett:  5'6" Utility player from Ocala, FL | Vanguard High School

Kassidy is an up-beat and energetic player who we expect will be a spark in our lineup.  She is athletic enough to play middle infield or outfield for us, and she is a selfless player who is willing to do whatever her team needs.  Kassidy plays like she is always out to prove something, and that is the type of attitude we hope will be contagious within our team.

Angell Weaver:  5'6" | Catcher from West Columbia, SC | Airport High School

Angell is fiery catcher who can keep baserunners honest and throw runners out.  We expect her to hit for average and move runners, while showing plenty of leadership behind the plate.  In her junior year of high school, she was her team's Defensive MVP and an All-Region player.  We look forward to Angell's energy and tenacity.
