Six Men’s Soccer Players Recognized by Region 8

Six members of the Daytona State College Men's Soccer team were named to the All-Region 8 teams.

The Falcons, who finished 12-7 this season, continue to place players on the All-Region Team.

"Our season didn't end up the way we had envisioned," said head coach Bart Sasnett. "That being said, I do believe we had a talented group of guys and the voting shows testament to our player's ability on the field."

Sophomore midfielder Shandel Senior (4 goals and 5 assists on the season) made the first team for the second straight season, while freshman midfielder Santiago Fonseca (7 goals and 6 assists on the season) was also named to the first team.

Sophomore defender Sergio Molina, sophomore midfielder Fabian Grant, freshman midfielder Juan Esteban Carmona and freshman forward Dujon Martin made the second team.

Juan Esteban Carmona led Region 8 with assists this season with 10 assists. He also tallied 6 goals on the season.

Dujon Martin led the Falcons in goals this season with 9.

"It is always good to see our individual players recognized for their achievements," said Sasnett. Each one of them are deserving. I'd like to thank the group of sophomores because they have shown leadership for our program and have put in the work for two seasons now. As for our freshman who landed spots on the first and second team; it is not easy to come into this Region and make the All-Region team. I am proud of how they stepped up for this program and earned their spots."
