Falcons Move Into Region 8 Semi-Final

Last Saturday night was nothing short of a spectacular performance by the Men's Soccer Team as they defeated Region 8 foe ASA College in the Region 8 play-in match. The Falcons defeated the Silver Storm 6-1 and secured their spot in the Region 8 Playoffs against Eastern Florida State College on Tuesday the 23rd at the Titan Soccer Complex.

Recap:

There is no doubt who the player of the match was for the Falcons as sophomore Creggton Charlton netted 3 goals and 1 assist on the night, putting him at 16 goals on the season with 6 assists. Charlton leads Region 8 in goals by more than double and is in 3rd place with assists. Charlton also leads Region 8 in overall points by double.

"Creggton played phenomenal tonight," said head coach Bart Sasnett. "He has the ability to play like that every match and we have all been waiting for him to open up and show it."

Another stellar performance on the night came from local sophomore co-captain Dakotah Casale who netted 2 goals and 2 assists in the match. In Region 8 this put Casale in 3rd place for goals with 6, 1st place for assists with 7, and 2nd in overall points with 19.

"Dakotah is a very illusive player who can be extremely dangerous if you give him time on the ball," said Sasnett. "He set the tempo for the team tonight with his goal in the first 20 seconds of the match and ended the match with the final goal in the 85th minute."

The fifth goal of the night before Daytona State's 6th goal came from freshman John Nalus, who was in the game for less than 30 seconds before he received a cross from Casale. Nalus slid for the ball and ended up taking himself and the ball straight into the goal.

"John went in and did exactly what we wanted him to do and that is to use his speed," said Sasnett. "I am proud of his performance tonight."

The Falcons played outstanding defense that was fueled by the persistent offense.

"Our guys are finally starting to realize their potential and what can happen when they play the way they are capable of," said Sasnett. "Our leaders are stepping up and pushing this team day-in and day-out."

The Falcons will now travel to Eastern Florida State College on Tuesday the 23rd for the Region 8 playoff match. The game will be at 7:00 PM and the winner of the match will travel to Pembroke Pines, FL on the 27th to face Region 8 Champion Broward College in the Region 8 Final.
