Men's Basketball Announces Incoming Class

DAYTONA BEACH, FL - Second year Head Coach Martin McCann announced the additions of ten student-athletes to the Daytona State College Men's Basketball program for the 2020-2021 season. The incoming class includes three transfers and seven incoming freshmen.

"I am beyond excited to welcome these ten young men to Daytona State. This talented group of student athletes is motivated to advance their education while competing at the highest level of Junior College basketball." said McCann. "These ten newcomers bring a great deal of overall talent, skill, size, athleticism and most importantly, character. Our coaching staff is excited to get work with this new group!"

Luis Reynoso | 6'5 | Guard | Lawrence, Massachusetts

Luis Reynoso comes to Daytona State after a stellar career at Lawrence High School. In his most productive season, Luis averaged 21.5 PPG and was named the Merrimack Valley Conference MVP. Reynoso spent time competing in the Adidas Gauntlet with the Mass Rivals and in FIBA competition with the Dominican Republic U17 National Team. Reynoso was ranked in the Class of 2019 as a Top 100 player in New England and 31st in the State of Massachusetts by the New England Recruiting Report.

Justin Smith | 6'4 | Guard | Burton, Michigan

Justin Smith comes to Daytona State after an outstanding career at Atherton High School. As a senior he was named the Atherton Basketball Player Of The Year and was an honorable mention All State selection. On the AAU Circuit, Justin competed for The Family, Detroit's NIKE EYBL affiliate.

Lionel "Leo" Kouadio | 6'4 | Guard | Abidjan, Ivory Coast

Leo Kouadio comes to Daytona State after a great career in his home country of Cote D'ivoire, most recently at LaBase Academy. Throughout his High School career Leo attended multiple international camps, including Basketball Without Border Africa and the NBA's Academy of Africa. Leo was exposed to FIBA competition as he represented Cote D'ivoire in a FIBA 3x3 event and on the U18 National Team.

Jackson Makoi | 6'5 | Guard | Melbourne, Australia / South Sudan

Jackson comes to Daytona State after transferring from Division 1 NJCAA program, Lee College. As a Freshman, Jackson averaged 15.3 PPG 4.7 RPG 5.9 APG and was named All Region XIV. Prior to entering the Junior College ranks, Makoi attended Saint Louis Christian for where he competed on Under Armour's Grind Session.

Jerome Palm| 6'10 | Forward | Almere, Netherlands

Prior to Daytona State, Jerome competed for the Orange Lions Academy and attended the Filou Oostende Basketball School. While attending Orange Lions Academy, Jerome averaged 12 PPG and 6 RPG and 2 BPG. Jerome represented The Netherlands in FIBA 3x3 even in 2019.

Brandon Betson | 6'2 | Guard | Orinda, California

Brandon comes to Daytona State after transferring from San Bernardino Valley College. As a Freshman, he averaged 19.5 PPG 4.3 APG and connected on 88 Three Point Field Goals at 41.5%. Brandon Scored a season high 45 point while making 8 three point field goals against Desert College. Brandon was a First Team All Conference after his outstanding freshman campaign. Prior to San Bernardino Valley, Brandon completed a post graduate year at Washington Academy in North Carolina.

Bailey Stephanos | 6'3 | Guard | Jupiter, Florida

Bailey comes to Daytona State after completing a Post Graduate year at DME in Daytona. Bailey set a DME program record for most points scored in a game when he scored 56 points and recorded 1o assists. Prior to DME, Bailey was a standout at William T. Dwyer HS, where he was named First Team All North Division by the Palm Beach Post.

Vuk Borovicanin | 6'8 | Guard/Forward | Belgrade, Serbia

Vuk comes to Daytona State after competing for KK Beko in Serbia's 19U League. This past season for KK Beko, Vuk averaged 13 PPG 6.4 RPG 2.4 APG. Borovicanin is rated the 22nd best 2001 born prospect in all of Serbia by Serbianprospects.com.

Taelon Martin | 6'5 | Guard | Springfield, Massachusetts

Taelon comes to Daytona State after spending his Freshman season at University of Saint Joseph, where he played for Hall of Fame Coach Jim Calhoun. As a Freshman, Taelon averaged 10.6 PPG and 3.9 RPG while leading them to a 26-3 record, an undefeated GNAC regular season, a GNAC tournament title and a trip to the 2nd round of the NCAA tournament. After being a 5 time rookie of the week selection, Taelon was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year. As a 2019 high school prospect, Martin was rated as a 3 & 4 star prospect by ESPN, Rivals and 247 Sports.

Sebastian Dager| 6'6 | Guard/Forward | Orlando, Florida

Sebastian comes to Daytona State after completing a Post Graduate Year at Central Pointe Christian. At Central Pointe, he was a part of a team who upset Eastern Florida State, who was ranked in the NJCAA top 5 in the nation at the time.
