Four Falcons Commit to Division 1

The Daytona State men's basketball program would like to announce the signing of four current Falcons to their Division 1 institutions. Alex Kotov, Kam Cunningham, Marcus Hopkins, and Dante Moses have reached their decision on where they will continue their careers. Of the available sophomores on the Falcons' roster this year, Marco Morency and Adong Makuoi are set to make their decisions soon.

Alex Kotov has chosen to continue his career at Illinois State University under the tutelage of former NBA player, Dan Muller. Illinois State competes in the Missouri Valley conference which has produced 2 Final Four participants in the last 10 years. "It's a bittersweet moment for us here at DSC." McCann said. "He was primed for a breakout sophomore year. Unfortunately, that was not the case with his injury. However, it is a huge testament to him as a person, student, and athlete to continue to pursue his dream and continue his career. I could not be more excited for him."

Kam Cunningham has decided to continue his athletic and academic career at Mississippi Valley State University under former NBA Champion Lindsay Hunter. Cunningham averaged 10.9 points per game while shooting 40.1% from beyond the arc. He had a season high on the road against Santa Fe College. "I am extremely excited for Kam. This year Kam showed immense growth and maturity. Lindsay and his staff did a great job and got a steal. I look forward to seeing Kam's success at Valley" stated McCann.

Marcus Hopkins has commiPed to Tennessee Tech University which competes in the Ohio Valley conference. The OVC is notably know for producing NBA players such as Ja Morant, Cameron Payne, Dylan Windler, and Kenneth Faried among others. McCann added "Very excited for Marcus as he has consistently overcome obstacles and has improved in every aspect of his life. I'm excited to follow his career at Tennessee Tech."

Dante Moses has committed to Radford University in Virginia. Radford competes in the Big South Conference and has consistently been the top contender for a championship in the last 5 years. Dante averaged 13.7 points while grabbing 5 rebounds a game. "Beyond excited for Dante. It was a pleasure to see Dante grow over the past 2 years and have a breakout sophomore season. I can't wait to see him grow even more in his next step of his career" says McCann.

This is an exciting time for Head Coach Martin McCann as he states "One of my favorite things about coaching Junior College basketball is following former players after they have moved onto NCAA institutions. I am excited for these young men and their decisions. I can't wait to watch them in their new uniforms next year."

Marco Morency and Adong Makuoi are the last of the sophomores to make a decision. They are narrowing down their list and will make a decision soon.
