What Daytona State College means to Yorelis Rios:
DSC is my alma mater, where I learned so many things. I am from Purto Rico and I cam to Daytona State without knowing English. It was a big change but I accepted the challenge and I continued to work hard without giving up. Stegall, Booker and the whole program helped me to be a better person, to be stronger than ever, to be responsible, to be discplined, to be a student first then an athlete, and no matter what you are going through in life don't stop being who you are. ALWAYS THINK POSITIVE AND NEVER GIVE UP. I had so many incredible outcomes because of DSC volleyball and also in the classroom with my grades. I never thought I would be so successful but this is all thanks to Stegall who gave me the opportunity to represent DSC in the sport I love, volleyball. DSC will always be in my heart wherever I go. Without this experience I would not have obtained these great accolades: First Team AVCA All-Region, Defense Player of the Year, and Region Defender of the Year. I am also considered to be a great student in the classroom. Thank you Stegall and Booker for teaching me volleyball at anoterh level and for taking care of me as if I were your daughter. Thank you DSC!!
