Lady Falcons Seek A Piece of Mid-Florida Conference Title

February 23, 2015

With one game to go in the regular season, Daytona State College will have one last shot at a shared Mid-Florida Conference title.

The Falcons are currently 9-2 in conference play and are second in the standings right behind the Patriots of College of Central Florida.  The Patriots are guaranteed conference champs with a Mid-Florida Conference record of 10-1.  However, their match up tonight with Daytona State will determine whether they hold that honor alone, or share it with the Falcons.

The last time these two teams matched up on February 7th, the Falcons upset the Patriots by 14, winning 66-52.  Wednesday night will be the final showdown this season between these two programs, and it is sure to be an emotional and physical battle between these two strong programs.

Daytona State College has posted its best record in the past five years (22-7), adding a Mid-Florida Conference title to the season would cap off the 2014-2015 season.

The Falcons have been led offensively this season by freshman, Brittney Chambers.  Chambers is averaging 17 points per game, as well as, 2.7 steals per outing.  In her 27 games played Chambers capitalizes on each minute she is on the court.  She is currently averaging 17.4 minutes per game, which means she averages a point for every minute she is on the court.

Chambers is receiving strong support from her teammates both offensively and defensively.  Both Monterika Warren and Destiny Alston are contributing double digit scoring for the Falcons, while teammate Stephanie Ratliff and Alysia Johnson are getting the job done for the Falcons on the boards.

The Falcons will look to extend their winning streak to 7 as they take on College of Central Florida in Ocala tonight at 6pm.
