Lady Falcons Enjoy Giving Back to Community

Community Service is an important component of the women's basketball program at Daytona State College. It is something that Lady Falcon players and coaches take great pride in. The team has participated in several service projects throughout the 2013-2014 academic year.

Two community service projects that the Lady Falcons participated in were the Great American Smoke Out and the Community Hope Centers Feeding Program.

Several Lady Falcons participated in the Great American Smoke out. The campaign's purpose was designed specifically to support the campus wide tobacco free initiative. Players assisted Daytona state faculty and staff members by picking up cigarette butts around the campus.

The Lady Falcons assisted in the removal of over 2500 butts from the grounds of DSC. The players really had pride in the fact that they took an active role to ensure a cleaner environment for their school.

The Community Hope Center's Feeding Program is another cause the Lady Falcons and coaches enjoy supporting. The team assisted the center's staff members by feeding over 200 homeless individuals and families in the Daytona Beach area.

Players had various tasks from serving meals and desserts to seating guests. Players even helped with washing dishes. Overall it was a great experience for everyone involved. The team learned the importance of giving back to those less fortunate.
