Cox Leads Falcons in Huntsville

Freshman Tiffany Cox led the Falcon women's cross country team for the first time this season at the Southern Showcase in Huntsville on Friday.  Cox has steadily been improving over the last six weeks and running closer to the top of the Falcon roster.  Cox's performance was needed after another top Falcon fell in the race and could not recover.  "Its always tough to have someone go down and not regain their momentum, and its hard to overcome that as a team." Coach Judy Wilson commented.  Cox ran close to a personal record of 21:46 on the John Hunt Cross Country Course, a nationally known site.  Running second for the Falcons was Alison Boyle who ran the 5000 meter course in 22:18, roughly the same time as last year.  The biggest improvement of the day was Francesca Azzollini who had been injured this past spring and summer, but who is making a come back this season.  Azzollini ran 22:49, a minute faster than her time from a week ago at the Border Clash.  Fran is starting to get into a groove with the training, and our freshmen are learning every week.  We had some difficulty today holding it together as a team with one runner falling, and another from the top five sick today. But we will regroup and get healthy and strong for our Sep 27th race at Florida State", commented Coach Judy Wilson.
