Meade leads Falcons at FSU Invitational

Meade leads Falcons at FSU Invitational

Sophomore Giovana Meade led the Falcons to a top 20 team finish at the FSU Invitational this past weekend.  Meade placed 40th out of 335 runners and was the first junior college runner to cross the finish line.  Her time of 18:39 for the 5,000 meter distance was over a minute faster than her time in the same meet last year.  Meade has joined her teammate All American Shannon Jones in leading the Falcons in their first three meets this season.  Jones placed 68th, only 23 seconds behind Meade, and well ahead of any other junior college runner.  Daytona State was the first junior college, scoring 608 points, ahead of Region 8 rival Pasco Hernando State  College with 739 points.  Freshmen Brooke Gerrits and Molly Burt were DSC's third and fourth runners, crossing the line at 21:31 and 21:37.  Sophomore Lauren Schaudel rounded out the top five for the Falcons, running 21:58.

Next up for the Falcons is the SSC Preview at Holloway Park in Lakeland, FL on October 13th.
