#4 Falcons Head to FSU Invitational

#4 Falcons Head to FSU Invitational

The Daytona State Falcons, ranked #4 nationally, will head to Tallahassee on Friday for the Florida State Invitational.  Forty teams from around the state of Florida and the Southeast will tow the line Friday morning at 8:10am for the 5,000 meter distance.  The Falcons will meet up with Region 8 teams such as Pasco Hernando State College, South Florida State College, and several others to get a preview of the Region 8 course for the Region Championships to be held on October 24th.  "This will be a really big field with well over 300 runners on the course, so it will be important for us to maintain our ground and stay focused", Coach Judy Wilson commented.  The Falcons will be lead by Giovana Meade and Shannon Jones, both who have posted times that are in the top ten nationally at the NJCAA level.  "Any time we run against the big NCAA Division I teams, it can be a learning experience, and for Shannon and Gigi, they can get into the right pack and get carried along on a fast pace." Wilson commented.  Rounding out the top five for the Falcons from their last outing was sophomore Lauren Schaudel, freshmen Brooke Gerrits, and freshmen Molly Burt
