Womens Cross Country Runner Up at Alligator Lake

Womens Cross Country Runner Up at Alligator Lake

The 7th ranked Daytona State Women's Cross Country team took the Runner Up trophy at Alligator Lake Park on Friday night.   Pasco Hernando won the meet with 40 points, followed by the Falcons with 50 points.  In all, six out of the seven teams competing in the meet were from Region 8, giving the Falcons another look at what to expect at the end of October.  The Falcons were led by freshman Harleigh Bilz and sophomore Sara Mott on a course with mud, sand and curves to challenge the runners on a humid day.  Bilz and Mott finished 5th and 6th in the race respectively, with freshman Caitlyn Norfolk finishing 8th to squeeze into the top 10. Rounding out the top five for DSC were first year runners Nathaly Abastida (17th) and Julia Uvalle (19th).  "We competed a little bit better today, and we will work on keeping our 4th and 5th runners up there just a little bit longer.  We were winning the race at mid way and just couldnt hang on today.  This is a young group and there is so much up side."  The DSC runner with the largest improvement from Sep 4th to Sep 18th was DeLand native Abigail Koshiol.   Full results can be found at: https://halfmiletiming.trackscoreboard.com/meets/226/events/3
