Former chair establishes scholarship in memory of his wife

Daytona Beach,, FL (May 23, 2018)--

Nancy Rowan was an avid runner, dedicated mother of two and a loving wife of 35 years when she passed away suddenly in December 2016. She was 58.

Her husband, Roger, who retired last May after serving Daytona State for 20 years as an associate professor of manufacturing technology and chair of Workforce Careers, has established a lasting legacy in the form of a memorial scholarship through the DSC Foundation.

"Nancy was a runner practically all her life, it seems,"Roger said. "We wanted to do something that would acknowledge her passion, so the kids (Rhianon and Rory) and I got together and decided that establishing the scholarship in her memory would be a good thing."

The Nancy Rowan "Runningal" Memorial Scholarship will award up to $1,200 each spring and fall semester to a member of DSC's newly established Women's Cross Country team, which will kick off its inaugural season this fall.
