Kurtze Signed On With Falcons
German standout, Laura Kurtze has signed her Letter of Intent to play with the Lady Falcons in 2017. Kurtze joins the Falcons with a wealth of playing experience that will add to an already impressive 2017 Daytona State College recruiting class.
Kurtze has competed at a high level, attaining elite playing experience in Germany. Her experience has helped her acquire a second place finish two times with her club, Bundespokal in 2012 & 2013. She additionally captured third with Bundespokal two times in 2014 & 2015. Kurtze's vast playing experience has also afforded her the opportunity to compete and win the German Youth Championships two times in both 2013 and most recently in 2016, with a previous 3rd place finish in 2015.
Upon watching Kurtze play, Coach Stegall compared her immediately with former Falcon standout and All-American Alica Kandler who has gone on to play with VCU (Virginia Commonwealth University). "She has a similar athleticism and an impressive volleyball IQ that allows her to be a superior player," Stegall commented on Kurtze. "Kurtze's ability to attack, her superior ball control, and defensive awareness will allow Kurtze to be a elite successful player in the competitive Florida Region."
Don't let the quiet nature of Laura Kurtze fool you, she is a fierce competitor that will be a dominating force for the Falcons in 2017 as Daytona State College seeks their first National Tournament berth since launching their program in 2013.
