Women's Soccer Moves to 3-2 in Conference

Daytona Beach, FL (dscfalcons.com): The Daytona State women's soccer team enters into their final three weeks of the regular season this week, ending their long bout on the road. Over the course of their last six games, the Falcons have traveled over 2,300 miles and spent over 37 hours on the bus, with an overall record of 5-2 and 3-2 in Region 8 play.

"Our region for the past two seasons is one of the best in the country. At this point, you have 3 of our 5 teams receiving votes for Top 20," said Coach Brittany Jones. "I know that every game we play during our conference schedule will be a challenge. You cannot find that in any other Region within the NJCAA."

Daytona took on Polk State, Saturday, Oct. 5th in Lakeland, FL finishing with a 4-0 win. The scoreline remained 0-0 entering halftime with each team tallying shots. Freshman, Cassie Bodi (Melbourne, FL) recorded her 2nd shutout of the season, making four saves. Sophomore Michelle O'Driscoll (Cork, Ireland) broke the deadlock at the 60th minute when she got on the end of a corner kick by Sophomore Samantha Saez (Palm Coast, FL). O'Driscoll found the back of the net 5-minutes later, on a ball from freshman Katie Rogers (Troy, IL) 25-yards from goal. Five minutes later, Tayla Duffy (Rushden, England) increased the scoreline to 3-0, on a through ball from sophomore Sydney Timmes (Port St. Lucie, FL). Daytona State's final goal was scored in the 85th minute by sophomore Cassidee Rentsch (Cape Coral, FL) assisted by Haley Yates (Port St. Lucie, FL).
