Daytona Beach, FL (dscfalcons.com): The Daytona State Falcons continued Region 8 play on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 as they faced off against Eastern Florida State College. Over the last three years the Titans and Falcons have enjoyed a strong rivalry with all but one of the games decided by 1 goal or less. Entering the contest both teams found themselves ranked within the top 10 nationally with the Falcons ranked 7^th and the Titans ranked 5^th. 

 "For our team the goal is to get better every day by focusing on improving the things we can control. The Eastern game is always one I look forward to as it represents an excellent test for our team. I know that they are going to be talented, well coached and that they will challenge us. For our athletes we stress that these are the games they should look forward to the most as they serve as a measuring stick in our development."

 "This game is exciting but it is also the first of multiple meetings between our two programs. Over the last two years we have had to face Eastern three times each season. Beating a team once is difficult and finding a way to be successful three times is an enormous challenge. Our teams will both adapt and the next meeting will prove to be more of a challenge than the first," said Coach Jones.

"I thought there were moments in the game where we could have performed better. Eastern was able to capitalize on the opportunities we presented to them and unfortunately we were unable to do the same. We could have scored two in the first half that would have changed the momentum of the game. Regardless we need to work harder as a team to protect the ball and make better decisions. This is a team we will see again and have to continue to improve to change the result," said Jones.

Freshman Sydney Timmes (Port St. Lucie, FL) scored her first goal of the season on a penalty kick in the 58th minute of the game. Michelle O'Driscoll (Cork, Ireland) scored her 12th goal of the season off of a shot taken by Tilda Andreasson, that deflected off the corssbar back to O'Driscoll, heading it in. Freshman Makenna Gottschalk made 9 saves during the match.
