Daytona Beach, FL (dscfalcons.com): Tuesday, September 18th Daytona State's Womens Soccer team competed in their first conference game of the season against the Silver Storm of ASA Miami. "We have continued to talk with our team about mental maturity and focus on the field, where we're looking to impose our style of play on the game and control the tempo especially when we're goals up. Our performance on Tuesday was our group's most complete showing to date. We were able to dictate the game much better than we did against Webber last week and close out the game with a shut out," said Coach Jones.

The Falcons got on the board in the first 90 seconds of the game, when a blocked shot from Michelle O'Driscoll bounced off an ASA defender to oncoming Freshman Brooke Boccuzzo (Mount Dora, FL) finished the ball with one touch 25 yards from goal. O'Driscoll found the back of the net 21 minutes later when Boccuzzo played a ball into Sophomore Sara Machado (Destin, FL) who combined with O'Driscoll around ASA's centerbacks. Another deflected shot from O'Driscoll was gathered and finished by freshman Tayla Duffy 8 minutes later. Machado then scored in the last four minutes of the half off a cross from Sophomore Gabrielle John (St. Petersburg, FL).

Daytona will travel to Polk State on Saturday, September 22nd. Polk is tied with Daytona for first in the Region 8 conference after they upset #1 ranked Eastern Florida on Tuesday.
