Falcons Remain Unbeaten in 4 Games

Daytona Beach, FL (dscfalcons.com): The Daytona State women's soccer team remains unbeaten in their 2018 Fall season, improving to 4-0 on the season. On August 31, the Falcons traveled to Melbourne to play visiting St. Louis Community College. Freshman Tayla Duffy (Rushden, England) netted both goals in the second half for the Falcons, at the 69th and 87th minute mark.

"Our game on Friday evening was a learning moment for our group.  We got away from some of the principles we look for from our team and found ourselves down 1-0 at half time vs. St. Louis CC.  We made a few tactical changes and asked for the commitment from our wide backs to get forward in the 2nd half and were rewarded with two goals and the win.  However, our level of mental focus and consistency is something we really felt was poor in the first game. We looked to remedy our mental lapse on Sunday and the group responded well with two goals in the first ten minutes of the game," said Coach Jones.

Michelle O'Driscoll (Cork, Ireland) had another commanding performance tallying 3 goals. She was able to first break through at the 6:30 minute mark, heading in a cross from Tilda Andreasson (Gothenburg, Sweden). Andreasson had 3 assists and her first goal of the season. Sophomore Sara Machado also scored her first goal of the season and assisted 1.

"We talk a lot about managing our emotions and finding ways to overcome challenges.  I was happy with the teams response on Sunday and if we can find consistency then our group has a great deal of potential," said Jones.

Their next game will be Thursday, September 6th at the Falcon Soccer Stadium against Monroe Community College (NY), kick off at 7pm.
