Daytona Beach, FL (dscfalcons.com): The Daytona State women's soccer team wrapped up their season October 29^th, losing in the Region 8 tournament final to Eastern Florida, 5-3. While the loss came as a disappointment, Head Coach Brittany Jones had an optimistic outlook moving forward.

"Tonight was a disappointing result for our group because we had already proven we had the quality to win the game.  However, we have to continue to move forward as a program.  Our performance tonight was better than the one we put on a year ago in the conference final and that is a sign of maturity within our program.  I am proud of the standard this group has set and know that in the future we will continue to find ourselves in meaningful games." 

Only in their second year, the Falcons set a new standard improving on their impressive inaugural season outcome. In the 2017 season, Daytona finished with an overall record of 12-2, 7-1 in conference, and improved in all measureable statistical categories. In their 14 games, scored 62 goals, averaged over 19 shots and 4.43 goals per game, while keeping their opponents to only 55 shots on goal for the season and a goals against average of 0.70 per game and losing only 1 game in the Region 8 conference.

Team leaders in points were:

-Heather Nulty (Forward): 30 pts (13 goals, 4 assists)

-Kaila Armstrong (Center Midfield): 26 pts (9 goals, 8 assists)

-Michaella Krebser (Forward): 21 pts (10 goals, 1 assist)

-Megan Warner (Center Midfield): 17 pts (7 goals, 3 assists)

-Naomi Gurrola (Forward): 15 pts (4 goals, 7 assists)

Daytona State will graduate 19 sophomores following the spring semester. Jones reiterated her sentiments on the sophomores from their final home game, "This sophomore class will always have a special place in my heart.  They were the group that was willing to take a chance on a new program and believed in our vision.  Through their sweat, blood and tears, the foundation of our program has been set and will continue to be built upon for years to come.  They have shown tremendous growth over the last two years and it is our priority now to continue cultivating what they have helped grow."
