Daytona Beach, FL (dscfalcons.com): It was a historic night for the Daytona State Women's soccer team, Monday, October 16th, when the squad defeated #8 Eastern Florida State College for the second time in regular season, and in turn second time in program history.

Michaella Krebser (Soph., Bradenton, FL) was first to score on the Titans just 3 minutes into play, receiving a ball from Kaila Armstrong (Soph., Broomfield, CO) inside of the 18-yard box and placing it past the keeper on the left side. This marks Krebser's 8th goal on the season and bringing up her to 17 points on the season.

The Titans answered nearly 25 minutes later, when Sarah Chamale was able to bend a ball around Kristian Shores (Soph., New Symrna Beach, FL) to even the match. Chamale would come up big again off an Eastern Florida corner kick with 7 minutes remaining in the first half.

The Falcons weathered the second half of very direct play from the Titans, while also creating a few dangerous opportunities that sailed wide or high of the frame. Shores would make three huge saves in the second half to keep the game in reach.

With just over 3 minutes left in play, Armstrong collected a loose ball and striking from 35 yards out, sending the ball over the outstretched Eastern keeper's hands and sending the Falcons into two sudden overtimes for the first time in program history. During overtime play, the Falcons took control and once again were able to keep the ball. With less than a minute left in the 2nd overtime, Alexis Lawson (Soph., Pace, FL) began another attack into the final third of the field, where it would eventually find Naomi Gurrola (Soph., Broomfield, CO). Gurrola's service from the right flank, found Armstrong's head just outside the 6 yard box, and into the back of the net with 0:38 seconds remaining.

"I am very happy for the girl's tonight. We started the game well and then had to weather some pressure for most of the game.  It was not our most composed effort, but we were able to find ways to be successful in key moments of the game.  I always expect our games against Eastern Florida to be very competitive and I was happy to see that the team was able to overcome adversity to be successful."

The Falcons' next two contests will take place on the Falcon home field, Oct. 18th against ASA Miami at 6pm and October 21st against Polk State at 4 pm.
