April 29, 2016

Daytona State College Head Women's Soccer Coach, Brittany Jones, announces the latest addition to the inaugural roster, Kathryne Hurst.  Hurst, a Hudson, Florida native, has spent the majority of her youth career as a goalkeeper with the Florida Coast Futbol Club under coach Kirk Staley.  She also competes at Fivay High School under former collegiate soccer coach Christine Rizzieri where she was named to the Sunshine Athletic Conference 1st Team as a senior.

"I am excited to have Katy join us this fall.  The key to any successful program is finding the players that exhibit the qualities you want your culture to stand for.  Katy brings a tremendous work ethic, a positive growth mind set and a true selflessness to our team.  She is excited and eager to help lay the foundation of our program and has taken great pride and responsibility for setting a high standard.  I have no doubt that she will be ready to compete for playing time this fall and that her determination to improve will motivate our entire team" stated Jones.

When asked why she chose Daytona State for her future Hurst stated that "it seemed an excellent fit for me both academically and athletically.  I love that it is a new program and that I will have the opportunity to work with a group of girls that are working toward a common purpose.  I am looking forward to forming relationships with them this fall."

The Falcons are only 3 short months away from the start of preseason training and their first season of intercollegiate competition.
