Daytona State Welcomes Inaugural Signing Class

April 14, 2016

The Daytona State College Women's Soccer Program welcomed many members of the inaugural roster to campus on Monday, April 11th, 2016.  The program hosted an honorary signing ceremony to officially celebrate the start of the women's program.  The young women were welcomed to campus by the coaching staff as well as College President, Dr. Tom LoBasso, and Athletic Director, Will Dunne, who all shared their excitement and vision for the program's future.

"Today's ceremony brought the vision of the College to life," said Coach Jones.  "Additionally, it made the program very real for the student athletes that will serve as the foundation for our success.  I have spent the last 6 months speaking about the future of our program.  Therefore, to see the excitement in the groups' face today as they finally had something tangible to experience was incredible," continued Jones.

The event was attended by over 50 supporters ranging from incoming student athletes and their families to faculty and staff.  "Today was a great first step for our program.  However, I do want to recognize the student athletes and their families who were not able to attend today.  I am excited to welcome everyone fully when we report for preseason on July 30th" stated Jones.

The Falcons will start preseason July 30th and will play three preseason scrimmages prior to the start of their regular season schedule. The team's final preseason scrimmage will see them compete against Embry Riddle's women's soccer program.  The game will be played on August 28th, 2016 at 6pm at ERAU's facilities.
