LADY FALCONS FINISH 8TH AT LADY PALADIN INVITATIONAL - HENRIQUES LEADS FALCONS WITH 4TH PLACE FINISH

September 29, 2019 – Greenville, SC:  The Daytona State College Women's Golf Team finished 8th at the Lady Paladin Invitational hosted by Furman University in Greenville, SC. 

With team scores of 299-299-300 (898),  the Lady Falcons finished in the middle of the pack of the 16 team field event which was won by Wake Forest (863), with host school Furman finishing in 2nd place (868).  University of North Florida (886) finished 3rd, while Old Dominion (891) and University of South Florida (892) rounded out the top five.

The Falcons were led by freshman, Symone Henriques, who finished in a tie for 4th place with scores of 74-71-69.  Sarah Scott, also a freshman, finished in a tie for 38st with scores of 76-78-74.  Other finishers for the Falcons included freshman Manon Donche-Gay who finished in a tie for 48th with scores of 75-76-79, sophomore Jessica Bailey who finished in a tie for 52nd with scores of 74-74-84, freshman Ella Melin who finished 72nd with scores of 73-81-85 and sophomore Casey Sommer who finished in a tie for 79th with scores of 80-83-78.   

Falcon head coach Laura Brown was very pleased with the team's overall performance.  "This was one of the tougher fields we will see all year and I felt that my players held their own.  I am especially happy for Symone as she finished under par for the event and to finish in the top-5 in this field was very impressive. This was a tough course especially on the greens and they all worked very hard this weekend and competed well."

The Lady Falcons return to competition October 7-8, as they are set to compete in the Stetson Hatter Classic hosted by Stetson University at Alaqua Country Club in Lake Mary, FL.
