LADY FALCONS FINISH 2ND AT NJCAA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

Daytona Beach, FL (May 16, 2019)  The Lady Falcons completed their season by hosting the 2019 NJCAA Women's National Golf Championship May 13-16, at LPGA International Golf Club.  The Falcons, who were attempting to capture their fourth straight national championship, finished in 2nd place to region rivals Seminole State College of Florida. 

Seminole State College of Florida won the rain-shortened event by 23 strokes with scores of 300-297-303 over the Lady Falcons who shot team scores of 309-304-310.  Tournament medalist, Worapitcha Andit, who shot scores of 70-72-71 to win the individual honors by 8 strokes, led the Raiders. 

Daytona State's best performance came from sophomore Hollie Muse of Liverpool, England who tied for fourth with scores of 77-74-76 and earned 1st Team All -American Honors.  Other finishers for the Falcons included sophomore Alison Crenshaw of Suwanee, GA, who placed sixth with scores of 74-77-77, earning her 1st Team All-American Honors; freshman Jessica Bailey of England, placed eighth with scores of 79-76-78 earning 2nd Team All –American Honors; freshman Casey Sommer of Davie, FL, tied for 11th with scores of 80-77-79 earning 2nd Team All-American Honors and sophomore Sadie Chlapowski of St. Petersburg, FL placed 13th with scores of 79-79-80 earning Honorable Mention All-American Honors.   

Although being disappointed with their second place finish, the Lady Falcons have won 10 national titles in the past 17 years and have a lot to be proud of with their many accomplishments during the year, both on and off the golf course.  All of their graduating players have signed with NCAA D1 schools and will be continuing their golf careers this fall at University of Arizona (Hollie Muse), Florida Gulf Coast University (Sadie Chlapowski), University of Georgia (Alison Crenshaw) and Stetson University (Harlie Valinho).
