Record-breaking day for Jiwon Jeon at Lady Paladin Invitiatonal

Greenville, SC - Sophomore Jiwon Jeon set a new record at the Lady Paladin Invitational while leading Daytona State to a four stroke lead on the tournament's first day. Jeon shot 64 (-8), tying the lowest round in Daytona State history and breaking the tournament record set by Emilee Hoffman from the University of Texas last year at 65 (-7). Daytona State, the only NJCAA school in the tournament, finished round one at 284 (-4), topping the field of 16 NCAA teams.

"Jiwon played fantastic today," said head women's golf coach Laura Brown. "This was one of the best ball-striking rounds I have seen her play. We started on the back nine and she birded five holes in her first nine, including four in a row from the ninth to twelfth. I am so excited for Jiwon, as this was her career best round."

Jeon's top score matched the Falcons' best recorded round to date, set by Mitsuki Katahira at the NJCAA National Championship tournament in 2011. In all, Jeon birdied nine holes for the day.

Also contributing to the Falcons' top score was freshman Hollie Muse, who posted a 70 (-2) in only her second collegiate tournament, while sophomores Grace St-Germain and Kendall Johnson finished the day at 75 (+3). Sophomore Elizabeth Jackson rounded out the Falcons' top five with a 79 (+7).

DSC's next closest opponent, Virginia Tech, shot a 288 (E) for the day, with tournament hosts Furman University behind them at 293 (+5) and Middle Tennessee State University coming in fourth at 295 (+7).
