LADY FALCONS FINISH 12TH AT LADY PALADIN INVITATIONAL

September 25, 2016 – Greenville, SC:  The Daytona State College Women's Golf Team finished 12th at the Lady Paladin Invitational hosted by Furman University in Greenville, SC. 

With team scores of 293-299-304 (896),  the Lady Falcons finished in the middle of the pack of the 20 field event which was won by University of Texas (853), with host school Furman finishing in 2nd place (855).  University of Illinois (862) finished 3rd, while Augusta University (866 ) and Middle Tennessee (870) rounded out the top five.

The Falcons were led by freshman, Grace St-Germain, who finished in a tie for 15th place with scores of 72-72-73.  Jiwon Jeon also a freshman, finished in a tie for 31st with scores of 72-73-74.  Other finishers for the Falcons included freshman Kendall Johnson who finished in a tie for 60th with scores of 73-77-79, sophomore Kaye Kwon who finished in a tie for 81st with scores of 76-79-78 and sophomore Claire Becker who finished in a tie for 102nd with scores of 86-77-80.   

Falcon head coach Laura Brown was satisfied with the team's overall performance.  "This was one of the toughest fields we will see all year and I felt that my players held their own.  I am proud of the way my players handled themselves and they definitely showed that they deserved to compete in this high level event.  Grace and Jiwon played very solid and I was happy with the way they placed.  This was a tough course especially on the greens and they all worked very hard this weekend and competed well."

The Lady Falcons return to competition October 3-4, as they are set to compete in the JU Classic hosted by Jacksonville University in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL.
