Daytona State Women's Basketball Opens in Good Fashion

Daytona State's Women's Basketball team kicked off their 2017-18 season with a victory against the Green Team Warriors of Webber International. The Falcons got out to a quick start with an early 20-2 lead after a Brittany Autry layup at the 2:43 mark of the 1st quarter. By halftime, the lead had grown to 19 with the Falcons up 44-25. The second half began with the Falcons going on a 14-3 run to the start the 3rd quarter. The Falcons held the Warriors to just eight points during the 3rd quarter. For the game, Daytona State had 4 players in double figures, led by Jayla Atmore and Destiny Arvinger with 15 apiece. Atmore also had 5 steals during the game. Also reaching double figures were Chrisana Scott and Brittany Autry with 13 each. Autry also was the lone Falcon to finish the game with a double double, having 10 rebounds. Sophomore Skyler Snider also had 10 rebounds to go along with 7 points and 4 assists. Taylor Tucker also shot well in her starting role with the Falcons, as she went 4-5 for the game. The Falcons bench outscored the Warriors bench 40-14. 

For the game, Daytona State shot 48.5% and 35% from 3 point range. Defensively, the Falcons held Webber Green to 31% from the field. Every Daytona State player got into the scoring column on opening day. 

The Falcons are back in action on November 7, with a 6pm home game vs. Florida Southwestern.
