Daytona State kicks off 2016-17 season at Tallahassee Community College

The Daytona State Lady Falcons look to kick off their 2016-17 campaign tonight with a 5:30 p.m. at Tallahassee Community College. After a challenging pre-season, the Lady Falcons will have a tough schedule that will see them face a number of nationally ranked teams in Region IIX.

Entering the Homecoming Weekend, Daytona State will host its first home game versus ASA Miami on November 5, at 2pm. They will continue their short home stretch with the Daytona State Tip-off Classic being held November 11-12. Daytona State will face-off against Palm Beach and Indian River, respectively over the Veteran's Day weekend. They will then travel down I-95 to play at Palm Beach on Tuesday, November 15. The Lady Falcons will have a tough stretch of tournament games starting November 18-19. They will face reigning 2015 NJCAA National Champions Gulf Coast and national contender Northwest Florida during the Bruce Stewart Classic held at Northwest Florida State College. Following the Thanksgiving break, the Lady Falcons will host the Webber International Green team on Monday, November 28.

Tough tournaments throughout December will help the Lady Falcons prepare for the start of Mid-Florida Conference play. This year's matchup at the annual Florida JUCO Shootout will see Daytona State face Indian River (December 2) and Florida Southwestern (December 3). They follow up with a tournament appearance at the Miami Dade Christmas Classic. The Lady Falcons will play Broward in the tournament's opening game on December 9 and play tournament host Miami Dade on December 10. After the Christmas break, Daytona State will host its holiday tournament on December 29-30. They will face familiar opponent Miami Dade during the first day of the tournament and ASA Miami on day two.

At the start of 2017, the Lady Falcons will face Eastern Florida, in Cocoa, on January 5 as the final non-conference game. Daytona State will kick off the Mid-Florida Conference race on January 7 at home versus St. Petersburg. The Mid-Florida Conference schedule will see Daytona State face all conference teams a total of three times each, with games alternating home and away. The Mid-Florida Conference includes St. Petersburg College, Central Florida College, Santé Fe, Hillsborough Community College, and Florida State College at Jacksonville.
