Daytona State Basketball Teams Earn Mid-Florida Conference Championships

February 22, 2016

Both of Daytona State's basketball teams won Mid-Florida Conference Basketball titles in 2016.  The ladies ran away with the title with a 12-0 perfect regular season effort to claim sole possession of the conference championship.

The men finished Mid-Florida Conference play 6-3 to earn a share of the Mid-Florida Conference championship title with the College of Central Florida.

The ladies secured the #1 Mid-Florida Conference seed in the state tournament and will face the winner of tonight's Panhandle play-in game between Tallahassee and Northwest Florida.  Tallahassee is the only loss on the Falcons record this season.

The men also earned the #1 Mid-Florida Conference seed by virtue of the head-to-head tie breaker.  The Falcons defeated the Patriots of Central Florida two out of the three regular season conference games.

The men's team will open up play next Wednesday, March 2nd at 8pm, against the Eagles of Polk State College in the 2016 FCSAA/NJCAA State Tournament.

The Lady Falcons will begin their tournament play on Thursday, March 3rd at 8pm against tomorrow night's Tallahassee Community College v. Northwest Florida State College winner being played at Chipola College.

Both games will be played in Ocala, Florida at the College of Central Florida.  Games will be available through online streaming.
