Falcons Exude their Athletic and Academic Skills

The 34-18 Lady Falcons demonstrated their skills this past 2016 season on the playing field, advancing to the Regional Tournament. They also, demonstrated their skills off the field as well. The 2015-2016 Falcon Softball team exhibited excellence in their academic studies. 

The Lady Falcon Softball team advanced to the NJCAA/FCSAA Region 8 Tournament this year after finishing 2nd in the Mid-FL Conference behind the Patriots of Central Florida. 

While holding themselves to high standards on the field, the team strove for high marks in the classroom as well. All team members posted grade point averages (GPA) of 3.0 or higher on the year making the team's cumulative GPA an impressive 3.57. The softball team received NJCAA Academic Team of the Year Honorable Mention. 

Individually, six Lady Falcons earned NJCAA Exemplary Academic Achievement awards with GPA's of 3.6.  These Falcons include Megan Hammett, Morgan Hammett, Amanda Nikhazy, Hailey Jackson, Mackenzie Steele, and Megan Woodson.

Holli Jones earned the NJCAA Superior Academic Achievement Awards with a GPA of 3.8.

Thirteen team members were named on the FCSAA All-Academic Team including: : Kayley Allen, Kendal Arcia, China Crockett, Jesse Goddard, Megan Hammett, Morgan Hammett, Amanda Nikhazy, Holli Jones, Hailey Jackson, Avery Light, Katrina Polcari, Mackenzie Steele, and Megan Woodson.

Impressively, the entire team was named Mid-Florida Conference Scholar-Athletes. The sophomore class also achieved an impressive 100% graduation rate. Each completing their graduation requirements on-time, earning their Associates of Arts degrees in May 2016. Each of them will be continuing their education, and 7 of the 8 will continue their playing careers at four year colleges and universities.
