Daytona State Softball Players Prepare For Future Achievements

Falcons Moving On

July 18, 2016

After two successful years with the Falcons, several Daytona State sophomores have signed letter of intents to move on to four year programs. Each sophomore earned their Associates of Arts Degree and graduate in the spring.

Slapper, Mackie Chandler, who hit .269 for the 34-18 for the Falcons last spring will be headed to Appalachian State University.

Chandler's teammates and former Falcon pitchers, Mackenzie Steele and Kaylee Allen, will be hurling pitches for their new programs next season.  Steele will take the bump for Howard University and Allen will pitch for Presbyterian.  Steele recorded a 4.15 ERA, while Allen boasted an impressive 2.59 ERA with 108 strikeouts.

Hailey Jackson will be remaining local, joining the NCAA Division II Eagles of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in the fall.  Jackson is impressive in the field with a .974 fielding percentage.

Infielder, Kait Stoltz, signed with Thomas University, while teammate China Crockett and Megan Hammett will remain teammates as they advance on to NAIA program, Warner University.

Each of these players had several options to play ball at the next level coming out of high school. They opted to enhance their skills and advance and expand their options.  They valued the impact and role that an NJCAA softball program could play in their collegiate academic and athletic journey. Daytona State afforded each of them the opportunity to grow their game and grow their future opportunities opening doors for them to play at the highest level in their sport.

The sophomore class of 2016 was a great example of the Daytona State College's student-athlete, and the mission that the college has to develop players and to subsequently place them in high caliber programs upon graduation.
