Falcons Finish First Among NJCAA D2 Teams In Half Marathon

The Falcon men's cross country team was the top Division 2 team across the line at the NJCAA Half Marathon Championships on Tuesday in Huntsville, Alabama.  The Falcons were led by sophomore Jayven Garcia who ran the 13.1 distance in 1:12:10.  He finished 22nd overall, in a race that is combined with NJCAA Division 1 teams.  Ivan Marin-Padilla, who just two days before helped the Falcons secure a podium spot in cross country, ran 1:12:52. Freshman Evan Casterline finished in 1:14:03, Brendan Hamilton ran 1:16:06, Zeniel Lizardo ran 1:17:42 and Jacob Bormet finished in 1:19:47.  " Jayven, Evan, Ivan, and Brendan all ran the cross country championships two days ago, so it's a tough thing to get recovered from that and come out here and run 13 miles.  We were the first Division 2 team today, and that is amazing considering some of these guys have never run a half marathon race before." commented Coach Judy Wilson.
