Falcons take Runner Up Team Trophy at Seminole State Invitational

The Falcon men's cross country team took home the runner up team trophy on Friday evening at the Seminole State Invitational at Seminole State College. Four Region 8 teams competed in the 5000 meter distance on a hot and humid Florida evening.  Running a full squad for the first time since early September, the Falcons placed five runners in the top 15 of the field.  "Tonight we worked on running as a pack, which might have cost us a win, but we wanted to work on some things that will help the guys down the road.  Coming off of a good race at Embry Riddle's tough course last week, I'm excited about how these guys are developing."  Wilson said.  Freshman Andy Martinez, a Viera High School graduate, led the Falcons placing 6th with a 16:57 for the 5k distance.  The #2 and #3 Falcons Tyler Gilbert and Jesse Barral finished 8th and 9th overall in 17:12 and 17:15 respectively.  Running on his high school cross country course, Adam Mastrobuono ran a strong race for the Falcons, finishing in 17:31, good for 13th overall.  And rounding out the top five for the Falcons was Andrew Guillory in 17:32 in 14th place overall.  "This was the first race back for Guillory and Barral since September 6th.  With them, we have a solid top seven and are gearing up for the Disney meet in two weeks.

Next up for the Falcons is the Disney Cross Country Classic on October 12th at the Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando.
