A Win on Homecoming for No. 12 Men's Soccer

The No. 12 Daytona State College men's soccer team hosted first year program, Southern Union State College for Saturdays Homecoming game. The Falcons improved their record to 8-2-2 and are unbeaten in the last six games.

With seven different scorers on the day, this would be the Falcons third clean sheet of the season.

Freshmen, Hector Moreno, would open the scoring in the 15th minute of the game bringing his goal count to seven on the season. The Falcons would go into halftime leading 2-0 with the help of Damian Rogers who set up Didier Jean Baptiste in the 19th minute.

Scoring would continue in the second half after a cornerkick sent in by Lisandro Molina found defender, Branton Saunders, for an open header at the back post. Molina would register a second assist when he set up Thanachit Yingcherdsuk for the fourth goal of the day. Soon after, Damian Rogers found the back of the net with a left footed shot from the top of the box to extend the lead by five goals.

Sophomore, Sol Bercu, would add to the scoring with back-to-back goals in the 78th and 86th minute of the second half. The scoring would end in the 89th minute when Malik Menzie put a ball into the box with Kyle Cushing-Meehan putting the finishing touches on it.

The final score, 8-0, is the largest win this season for the Falcons. The next home game for the Falcons will be Tuesday, October 17th versus Millenia Atlantic University.
