Men's Soccer Gives Back
Head coach of the Men's Soccer Team Bart Sasnett knows how important it is to give back to the community. "This community has given so much to us over the past 3 years since the birth of this program and we have been fortunate enough to give back to it in any way that we can," said Sasnett. The Men's Soccer team went out this past weekend and did just that.
Daytona State College is a huge part of this community and without the support of this community, Daytona State College would not be where it is today. "We want our guys to be active members of this community," says Sasnett. "Engaging in community service provides them with the opportunity to become just that." More importantly, it has a lasting, positive impact on this community. By doing things for others, our athletes are able to acquire life skills and knowledge and are able to give back to those who deserve it.
On Friday night, the Daytona State Men's Soccer team hosted the 5th Annual Boys High School All-Star Game. The high school players that participated were from:

University High School
"It was a great showing of crowd and players," said Head Coach Bart Sasnett. "We love being able to host the event and have the players from all over competing with and against each other."
After the game on Friday night, the Men's Soccer team turned right around on Saturday morning and went to volunteer at Habitat for Humanity. The team was tasked with landscaping and clean up for the ReStore in Holly Hill.
"What Habitat for Humanity does for this community is amazing," said Sasnett. "Being able to partner with them and help in any way that we can is something we plan to do every year."
The freshman of the Men's Soccer team were doing something that was a lot different from what they are used to doing on a typical Saturday morning. They were trimming trees, picking weeds, shoveling sand, landscaping the grounds, sweeping and removing glass, and most of all having fun while doing it.
"Working together doing things like this is just like working together on a soccer field," says Sasnett. "We had a goal that we needed to accomplish and without the hard work from each individual, we wouldn't have accomplished that goal."
