Falcons 2-1-1 in Region 8 Play

The Falcons, who are currently ranked 10th in the NJCAA and 10-1-2 on the season, sit on a Region 8 record of 2-1-1 thus far. Their only loss and tie in the Region has come from the same team, Broward College, who they faced last Friday night and walked out with a 0-0 tie after two overtime periods.

Recap:

The Broward College Seahawks traveled to Daytona Beach to face the Daytona State College Falcons last Friday night.

The Falcons once again played a stellar match, but just couldn't seem to find the back of the net and walked away with a double overtime tie of 0-0.

"We played great and I am proud of the guys," said head coach Bart Sasnett. "We had the chances, we took the chances, but sometimes the ball just won't go into the back of the net. That's soccer."

The Falcons out possessed and out shot the Seahawks for the entirety of the match, but the Seahawks played outstanding defense to hold the Falcons off. The Falcons had a variety of looks at the goal, but the final product always found a way to avoid the back of the net.

"Sometimes the game doesn't go the way that you plan," says Sasnett. "Though we got the tie, we took it as a loss. But this game will make us stronger and hungrier to get two wins in our last Region 8 games."

The Falcons will face Region 8 foe ASA College out of Miami on Wednesday the 10th and then turn around and host Region 8 rival Eastern Florida State College on Saturday the 13th. The Falcons defeated both ASA and Eastern Florida already and are looking to win both matches against them again. The Falcons are hoping to finish out the regular season of Region 8 play in 1st place so that they will secure the #1 seed in the Region 8 tournament.
