Men’s Soccer Improves To 3-0-1 With Goal From Flagler County Talent

The Daytona State College Men's Soccer Team remains undefeated after defeating new opponent Northeast Community College 1-0 on Sunday afternoon.

Only 15 minutes into the match, a storm came through and put the game into delay for 30 minutes. After the storm had passed, the Falcons and the Hawks made their way back onto the pitch to continue the game.

The game was scoreless throughout the first half with the Falcons outshooting and out possessing the Hawks. After a half-time speech from Coach Sasnett, the Falcons came back out on the field with something to prove. Only 10 minutes into the 2nd half, sophomore Shevon Stewart cut through the defense and threaded a ball to Flagler County sophomore and co-captain Dakotah Casale who beat the keeper and put the ball into the back of the net.  Casale who was a local standout for Matanzas high school netted his first game winner for DSC! The game stayed at 1-0 for the remainder of the match, with the Hawks only having 2 shots on goal the entire game.

"We really found our rhythm in the second half," says Sasnett. "We started moving the ball around very well and our fitness seemed to take over. Credit to the other team. They were well coached and played a good style of soccer."

The Falcons will take this week to prepare for two home games on Saturday the 8th and Sunday the 9th. They will face two Georgia teams; Andrew College on Saturday @ 7:00 PM and Georgia Military College on Sunday @ 1:00 PM. The Falcons have already seen Georgia Military College earlier this season, with the score ending up 1-1 after two overtime periods.
